Burmese soldiers fire on unarmed Buddhists
To the shame of neighboring countries India and China, (there have already been calls in the EU parliament for the boycott of the 2008 China Olympic Games), the Burma Military junta once again murders its own citizens to sustain a bejewelled lifestyle for itself, without a murmor from its neighbours.
At a hastily convened UN meeting last night China insisted that to do anything would be ‘not helpful’. India also hasn’t lifted a finger to help. It is the brazen opulence of the Burmese military leaders set against the poverty of its people that most sticks in the throat for any humanitarian.
