Cows responsible for global warming?

The Vegetarian Society, patrons include Sir Paul McCartney, have come up with an astonishing charge that the amount of CO2 gas emissions from farm animals exceed that of the entire world transport system. The society is launching a public awareness campaign featuring the rear end of a cow with the caption ’silent but deadly’. I have myself heard cow emissions and can confirm they are not silent within a radius of around ten metres. It is true that the amount of animal waste in the UK runs into millions of tons each year, but is this argument enough to persuade you to become vegetarian?
