Blooming Doug and Dave, how could they ruin a thriving UK cottage industry by accepting 30 pieces of silver from the Sun to fake a crop circle? Magazines, videos and tours were booming in the 1990’s, and now many crop circle investigators, some really trying to be scientific, bury their heads in the sand and hope the media contempt, and their personal embarrassment will pass them by.
With a friend I visited a crop circle which we noticed while driving near Silbury Hill. We parked the car and walked up the hill and examined the circle, which was quite large. As we were looking around a military helicopter flew over the brow of the hill directly over us at a very low altitude. It was an interesting experience.
The crop circle industry has been plagued by fakes, most in the field are aware of this and moan about it, but some circles are most definitely worthy of full investigation. One most annoying fake was a widely circulated video showing the creation of a crop circle by two small shiny objects / UFO’s. Upon analysis, it appears the video is a montage of two shiny flying objects superimposed upon a faded in image of crop circles. Quite well done, but a destructive thing to do.
