English football - FA board ‘useless’

Though Steve McClaren will be sacked today as England football manager the men who should also be taking responsibility will go on unscathed. The FA, Brian Barwick et al, will carry on regardless in their jobs for life. Perhaps its time the top level old boys club is sacked themselves. Of course this won’t happen. And that’s the problem, English football is run at the top by a cartel, a conspiracy of untouchables, a motley group who have a poor track record.

My man for the job? Harry Redknapp. English and with a record of getting the best out of players. It’s not that players like Frank Lampard, Joe Cole and Steve Gerrard are not world class players, they are, it’s the manager who is responsible for motivating them. And the FA board are responsible for results too, not only the manager. Jose Mourinho has said he would only manage the Portugal national team. Redknapp would be a good choice.
