Fox News helps US gun lobby

Sad to see another mass shooting, this time in a suburban shopping mall in Omaha, by a youth unhappy with losing his girlfriend. The Conspiracy Review believes that when guns are readily available, shootings like this are as inevitable as night following day, and this is backed up by other political blogs. Robert Hawkins, the shooter who then shot himself according to police reports, was depressed also about losing his job. It was the ready availability of guns which turned the Omaha shootings into reality.

Just yesterday Fox news, ‘fair and balanced’, was banging on about a new law allowing far more freedom for householders to shoot anyone at their homes, even outside, without having to go through the bother of a police investigation. Fox news, which is a right wing Republican party voicebox, has been into arming every householder in the US for years, then when the inevitable shootings happen, they launch their own inquest into why it happens.

Just for once it would be so nice to see Fox News rein back on its Wild West agenda, where everyone packs a gun and shouts ‘yee haw’ as they fire away into the sunset.

It’s odd to think of a parallel in the UK. I guess shopping at Asda (Walmart to you), then mulling over whether to pick up a spare magnum 357 on a buy 3 for the price of 2 offer after visiting the frozen foods counter.
