Gordon Brown to meet Dalai Lama

The monster, that is what the Chinese authorities are calling the Dalai Lama, is to meet Gordon Brown in London presently, as confirmed in today’s Prime Minister’s questions. This is of course another part of the pressure on the one party state of China to get serious about human rights in time for the Olympic Games to be held in Beijing.

Question is, the UK holds the next olympics in 2012, are we now going to get some childish tit for tat by China in the run up to the London’s turn to have the Olympics?

I hope very much that the UK and US are out of Iraq by then, Afghanistan will be more difficult to make a fuss over for Chinese authorities as they have themselves Islamic radicals problems in the South West.

Politics and sport, always like oil and water, they just don’t mix.
