Director Michael Hayden saluted the over hundred thousand applicants who apply to join the CIA each year in a 60th birthday tribute to the founding of the controversial intelligence gathering organisation. Hayden also announced delivery of the A-12 OXCART, the high flying spyplane built by Lockheed at their Skunk Works which will aid CIA reconnaissance activities. (according to answers.com the A12 has been around since the 1960’s, so presumably it has been updated). Former President George H.W. Bush also attended the festivities as a former director of the CIA. Hayden affirmed the importance of clandestine tradecraft, though why the NCS in needed when the CIA has been involved in subterfuge since its inception is unsure.
