Home Information Packs must go

The latest tax introduced by Gordon Brown’s anti entrepreneur and anti small business government, that is the introduction of HIPS, or home information packs has further served to dampen the housing market in the UK.

Brown, feted by the IMF as a great chancellor, really has it in for small businesses and independent minded people. He wants one big socialist state, with everyone working for the government, or big companies only, forgetting that big companies were once small business.

Home information packs are a tax on people wanting to sell their houses, nothing more. Nobody in their right mind is going to buy a house solely based on a mandatory HIPS report from the seller. The government was told this at the time, and as usual, with their impaired judgement, ignored the advice.

The short term boom of housing prices in the UK, which fuelled the so called great chancellor’s spending spree is ending. Chickens are coming home to roost, and the time of bust is coming.

No more boom and bust, those words from Gordon Brown when he was chancellor, will come to stick in his throat, while we all pay the bill.

HIPS must go, but Brown doesn’t have the judgement to make the right calls.
