North Korea executes accidental migrants

This story comes from the Daily Mail so it has to be treated with a little pinch of salt, but apparently 22 fishermen who got lost in waters off North Korea ended up in the South by mistake. Informed by officials that they were in the South the fishermen said they didn’t want political asylum, but just to return to the North.

Upon reentry to North Korea, the men were taken away and summarily shot by security forces. The beloved leader Kim Jong-il, to whom all North Koreans bow and make homage to apparently didn’t bother to intercede.

North Korea is becoming a sort of East Germany under the Honecker rule thirty years ago, but to an extent Erich could only have dreamed of. On the other hand there are less binge drinking problems and everybody is extremely happy, according to official sources. But when you have an army of three million for such a small country isn’t there something wrong?
