And just when all those commentators had written off Jermaine Defoe, the little lad comes up with the goods again. A great touch and lob helps to finish off Martin O’Neil’s Aston Villa.
Trouble is, why can’t Jermaine keep that form up during the whole match? He gets Portsmouth going well, and then after his wonderful goal he’s virtually anonymous for the rest of the game. He’s a good football player, and either noone wants to pass to him, or he’s in the wrong positions.
But Harry Redknapp didn’t spend all those millions on him to be content with Defoe’s current form, even though six goals in six games is fantastic enough. Look out for an uber fit Jermaine Defoe in the coming months.
PS Will Milan Baros getting going ever. He disappointed again. Strange buy that for Harry.
