Do you remember the stories of salesman in the wild west in the 1800’s who travelled around offering panaceas for all medical conditions from the back of a wagon? Snake oil salesman they were called, salesman who peddled unproven potions. Well they’re alive and kicking in the 21st century, only at this time they are scientists who peddle unproven arguments as proof and get a kick out of publishing books dismissing out of hand any evidence based ideas incompatible with their own illogical world.
Richard Dawkins, shame on him, is a prime example. An establishment scientist peddling unproven and illogical rubbish. His assertions can be dismissed so easily it’s hardly worth the bother, but let’s take two.
1) Species evolve, therefore there is no God. So DNA evolved by accident? A lightning strike here, a whiff of ammonia there, hey presto, DNA? Come again Mr Dawkins?
2) The universe began with a big bang out of a little itsy bitsy piece of matter. Leaving aside the point Dawkins appears unable to understand which is that logically the beginning must start with nothing, or it is not the beginning, this theory is so absurd it’s worthy of the 16th century Vatican establishment. What happened at time zero then, Richard Dawkins. You create matter from nothing? Oh. let’s invent anti-matter to cancel out the positive matter, so zero is the beginning. Show me the anti-matter then? Oh you can’t. What a surprise. How is your examination of the internal structure of atoms coming along, Richard, gets more complicated as you look further in doesn’t it.
I am not arguing for the existence of a ‘God’, or ‘observers’ if a more accurate plural translation of the Hebrew text used in Genesis is used. I do however believe the evidence shows that during time our DNA has been played about with by more advanced civilisations than our own, for whatever purpose I’ll leave you to judge, but not Richard Dawkins. Let him sit smugly with his eyes wide shut in his ignorance.
