Russia kills Khalilov, Dagestan terrorist leader

After a 12 hour gun battle in a Dagestan village, Pravda reports that Rappani Khalilov, claimed to be behind the Kaspiisk bomb attack (killing 42 at a military parade), was among those killed when terrorists were tracked down to a farmhouse in the southern republic. Khalilov was also implicated in attempts to set up an Islamic state in Chechnya and Dagestan. Terrorist activity has decreased in Chechnya following concerted efforts by Russian troops and local militia, as a result the threat has been displaced to the neighbouring republics of Dagestan and Ingushetia.
