The comment above is spot on - if you really want to get back at Setanta type Setanta into Google and when the sponsored (i.e paid) advertisement comes up just click on it over and over again. It will cost Setanta a fortune if you do this over and over again.

Setanta Sports - Setanta is a total scam and a con trick.

You sign up online with Setanta and Setanta insist that you must wave your statutory rights under the distance selling regulations. This is illegal.

Then they don't bother sending you a contract, as is their legal
obligation as a subscription service provider.

Then when you call them to cancel their rubbish package (serioulsy don't bother. Most football matches and boxing matches are shown days after the live dates) they tell you you have to write to them

They give you the following address (actually they say its on their website but it isnt so you will have to phone back to get the address)

Here is the correct address:

Setanta Sports
Sunderland
SE9 9X2

Except, it isnt.

Here is the REAL address you have to write to to cancel - and make sure you send it recorded delivery.

Setanta Sports
PO BOX 182
The Quays
Newry
Co. Down
BT35 5AT

This is as address in Northern Ireland. Please note I am Northern Irish
and I am ashamed of this ghastly company.

I wrote to them months ago, and got a phone call out of the blue
demanding money. They said they never got my letter.

Eventually they gave me an email address that you can use to cancel:

I wont repeat the email address here as it will confuse you - but
the REAL email address (another phone call) is

requests@setanta.com

I have had similar problems to the rest of you although it does not involve cancellation. I have been overcharged but cannot get get it refunded despite phone calls when they agreed to the refund and letters. Even though I provided proof. Also if it just looks like it is going to rain the signal goes off and I lose my picture. I orignally just subscribed to NASN for the American sport, but of course when they were taken over by Setanta I had to take them as well. I already subscribed to SKY for the football and much better service it is too. This must be one of the biggest rip offs going. The process of complaining is terrible. You never know who on earth to phone or write to as they seem to be spread all over the UK instead of in one place.

It appears that Setanta have listened to complaints and have made it simpler to cancel your subscription. Just go their HOME page and send them an email (select platform ie: Satellite or Cable then "subscription enquiry") I recently cancelled my subs. and received a reply via email within 24hrs. (Canc. will take place 30days after next billng date)
If you are polite in your email you will get what you want !

Hope this thread is still live ...

To my surprise, I have something positive to write. I have a big objection to calling premium rate phone numbers so, on 26th Sept. I sent an email to Setanta via the "Contact us" page on their website telling them that I wanted to cancel a.s.a.p.

Today, I received a reply (OK, it took them a week and a half but it does say what I wanted it to.) saying that my cancellation request had been processed successfully and that I will be due to cancel 30 days after my next billing date, 16th October. Don't know if that means I'll be billed just once more or twice - we'll see.

It took us 6 months to get rid of Setanta last season. We paid by card and they just kept taking the money out of our account, ignoring our letters and emails and cutting us off on the phone. When we finally did manage to cancel it took a long, stressful phone call as bad as those described above. Even though they have a lot more games this season we will not be tempted to go near them ever again. It has to be a deliberate Setanta policy to make it as difficult as possible to cancel. I'm not convinced that reducing the notice period will make any difference if, like us, you can't get Setanta to acknowledge you have asked to leave

I have been trying to cancel since May!! I sent them an e-mail, then spoke to them as I had not had a response. I was told that i had to send a letter, which I did on the 17th May, again I rang them only to be told they hadn't received a letter from me. Since then I have had umpteen phone conversations with them and also sent another letter on the 9th August (again allegedly not received) and a further letter on the 10th Sept recorded which they now have received. They rang today to tell me I owe them a further £12.99 and my cancellation term is 60 days!! I am furious and waiting for a call from a manager there - but I am not holding my breath (or paying them a penny).

To anyone's knowledge has Setanta actually sued or set bailiffs on to a customer over an alleged breach of contract?
