Silicon Valley - The future is not search engines
So Microsoft wants to buy Yahoo to take on the dominance of the Google search engine. At the moment search engines are the buzz words, everyone is searching for something.
The word from silicon valley is that search is not the future. Techs there say mobile is the future, which Google knows, hence the activity with street maps and local information for mobile phones which Google exploits for the coming years when search will no longer be the dominant consumer factor.
Until cell phones are connected to the internet in an ‘always on’ configuration, in the same way that broadband revolutionised the search engine market with its always connected status as opposed to dial up, this will not happen. Search is here to stay, it’s a basic human condition.
