Sky Talk package - a subscribers warning

Sky TV offers a nice sounding package for Sky subscribers called Sky Talk, for a nominal monthly payment you can call 30 or so international destinations free of charge - up to 1 hour talk, then hang up and dial again to avoid extra charges.

There’s a problem with Sky Talk they don’t tell you about though. If you ever want to cancel your Sky TV package, firstly you lose the Sky Talk option, BUT, most important you may well find your phone has been immobilised. You can’t make any calls on your phone. Even if you have made arrangements with another phone supplier like BT, you will find every time you try to make a call you will get a pre recorded voice from Sky talk saying your service has been restricted. Your phone is useless, you can’t make any calls out except to Sky TV.

So you then call SKY TV, to complain. There you will receive no help, except sympathy. This is what has happened to me, a loyal Sky subscriber for years, up to date with all payments, stuck with a useless phone because Sky Talk have grabbed the phone line and disabled it.

So take this warning, subscribe to Sky Talk by all means, but watch it if you ever want to cancel.

You may need to contact the phone company you want to transfer your phone line to, and start again. It eventually worked for me.

It is happening to me. I have been thrown back and forth calling Sky and BT because they are blaming eachother for the problem. I had this problem before with Talk Talk when I last moved into another flat. It took me 2 months to get rid of it. I am waiting to see how long would it take me to get rid of Sky Talk this time.
