Taleban to be included in Afghanistan Government

UK Defence secretary Des Browne says that the Taleban will have to be involved in any future Afghan government as, like Hamas in Palestine, they ‘will not go away’. Anyone who has seen  pictures of Taleban atrocities such as the filmed public execution of women for daring to assert their human rights will be dismayed by such a statement.

Browne may have a point that any government in Afghanistan will need to be Islamic based, but the point of the invasion was to eliminate the possibility of the Taleban holding power and continuing and spreading their barbaric culture. The Taleban nuture Al-Qaeda terrorist training camps. The urbane Des Browne needs to remember the initial mission objectives for Afghanistan, and not betray the sacrifice of many UK and US lives who have struggled to bring some form of primitive civilised rule to the destitute country.
