UK broadcasters should thank Gordon Brown

BBC News 24 and Sky News wish to thank and congratulate PM Gordon Brown for providing them with so much copy and political gossip gratis over the weekend. Otherwise the Sunday papers would have been devoid of anything interesting to read.

But the sight of Gordon, who looks like he needs to get some exercise in the gym, attempting to spin his way out of the election mess he helped create was a nice piece of political showbiz for Andrew Marr and the rest of the media. Brown led his troops up the hill, took a look over the top and ran, he legged it. Is this the man of decision who delegated responsibility for interest rates to the Bank of England? The man who has funded most of the £200 billion public building, hospitals, schools etc on the tic that Labour is so proud about?

Just a minute, £200 billion to be repaid for the PFI (Public finance Initiative) schools and hospital program? Oh yes, surprising The Tories haven’t made more of this. For decades UK residents will be paying back the huge loans Gordon Brown has saddled them with. But what do you expect from a socialist government? Leopards don’t change their spots, Labour Party spends, spends, spends, then the Tories are voted in to clean up the mess. It’s been the way in UK politics for decades.
