Well it looks very good does the Yahoo Hosting. For small business Yahoo offers a package costing around $12 (approx 6GBP) per month to host a domain. And to make you feel comfortable there is the 30 day satisfaction guarantee. So I thought this would be a good hosting review to put on the blog.

I signed up for yahoo hosting, only to discover in the small print after having paid the 3 months in advance, it is not shown in the blurb until after you sign up to yahoo small business hosting, that they do not support, unlike every other hosting service I have used, .htaccess for rewriting urls. This means that for any site using a database, including wordpress or sites where you make the pages by drawing data from a database, that you cannot have easy to read url’s. You are left with the unreadable php long url’s.

So that would not work for me, particularly as Yahoo charge premium rates for their hosting service, and I cancelled Yahoo hosting 2 hours later, confident that I would receive a refund under the 30 day satisfaction guarantee.

I received a cancellation email from Yahoo the same day, within stating that ‘you will not receive a refund’. What? When it is advertised so clearly in Yahoo Hosting adverts and in writing that you can have a refund within 30 days? After several lengthy phone calls to the USA I have finally been promised a refund, however as yet Yahoo have not refunded the money. Trying to contact Yahoo Small Business hosting by email is impossible, there are no email links, you have to phone and go through a long procedure.

This is not a good business by Yahoo, it amounts to deception in my eyes. So be warned, be very careful before using Yahoo for your hosting!!
